A few times now I have mentioned my experience working in an agile work environment, Extreme Programming (XP) is an agile software development framework which embodies some of the most desired qualities of an agile team.

These key values are the following;

  • Communication
  • Simplicity
  • Feedback
  • Courage
  • Respect

I personally highly value the importance of a supportive, well spirited, efficient working environment and have worked in a large number of teams throughout my career, and following these values is a path to success whether it be a team of software engineers or even a team of retail workers.

Communication

Perhaps one of the most obvious things a team needs to well is having good communication with each other. In programming this could be communicating various different things. Just some of these things could be reviewing each other's code to asses compatibility, assigning each other tasks to complete, creating CNC cards, Domain models, and so on. Tools such as Zoom, Trello, and Figma are great options to keep everyone on track when working on a project.

Simplicity
