Week 7 Reflection

Wow, another week flew by! So this week had a primary focus on single page web applications. Me and two of my fellow Makers created a single page web app without the use of any framework, the app was a simple to-do list. This week was fairly easy-going however I know it is the calm before the storm since for the next two weeks we are going to be making a Facebook clone using ruby on rails. There is still much to learn and I only have about 4 weeks left with Makers, I have already started floating project ideas past my colleagues to pursue during our job search.

At the moment I feel one of the most useful things I can do is conduct some research into ruby on rails since it will be the first time I’m using it in a project. On the flip side, I think I'll need to plan my week to have some more time away from my computer, it’s been a tough journey isolating due to the COVID pandemic and I haven't done anything but code for well over a month.

For the remainder of my weekend I want to write a couple more blogs and maybe take a crack at NodeJS however I think I’m going to take the evening off since I’ve got a fairly full two weeks ahead of me.

Still to do …

Practice using:

Ruby on Rails, Node JS/Express, PSQL, JSON

Write blogs on:

CNC cards, Domain modeling, How to look after yourself as a programmer, environments, Making my own website, My experience with Java/App Dev of Android.
